Saturday night my husband and I had a taste of life in the city, and you know what, I really liked it. If I was rich and my children were older I definitely would love to live in Manhattan. I think because we live so close to the city that we take for granted just how beautiful it actually is in Manhattan. Maybe one day I’ll have the opportunity to live there for awhile, definitely a life goal.
We started our night by checking into the Fairfield Inn on 37th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue:
After check-in we headed over to Patsy’s restaurant for dinner:
Patsy’s was amazing!!! We went there 11 years ago and I have no idea why we have never gone back. We started our meal with the hot antipasto which included baked clams, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant rollatini and shrimp marinara. Everyone of these items were delicious, if I wasn’t in a restaurant I would have licked the sauce off the plate, as it stands I just used the bread to soak up the sauce so it would not be wasted. Next we had an amazing salad with mixed greens, artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, walnuts and Gorgonzola with a delicious dressing. For the main course I had shrimp scampi with linguine and my husband had Chicken Parmesan. OMG!!! The shrimp scampi was great, but the chicken Parmesan was heavenly. I ate mine plus some of my husbands, and we could have had more Chicken Parmesan. When my husband’s plate came with two large pieces of Chicken Parmesan he said he thought he would never be able finish it, until he took the first bite, then he knew it wouldn’t be enough, especially because I couldn’t stop eating it too. This was by far the best Chicken Parmesan I have ever eaten in my entire life, it literally just melted in your mouth. I could have died after this meal and I would have died a happy woman. We could have eaten much, much more but we had to save room for this:
This was a Rum cake that they had just made and posted the pic on their Facebook page. We showed them the pic from our phone and 2 minutes later we had a slice right in front of us. Facebook is good for some things and getting this cake as a result of Facebook was one of them.
Next it was on to this bar for a pre play drink:
Another thing Facebook is good for is checking into places. We checked into Latitude on Facebook and got a free drink!
After Latitude it was on to the main event, the off Broadway hit My Big Gay Italian Wedding. It did not disappoint, the play was hysterical.
The play ended around 10:30 and we weren’t quite ready to go back to the hotel so we walked around looking for an uncrowded bar. Not an easy feat on a Saturday night.
We ended up at a Hotel bar called Metro, it was relatively empty with the exception of a few people and we stayed until it closed at midnight. The night was amazing from start to finish. We ate, we drank, we met some interesting people, we saw a hysterical play and stayed at a beautiful hotel. A perfect Eleventh Anniversary!!
