Week 2 is complete, today marks the beginning of week 3 and I started it out with a great yoga session. Week 2 was a success, I completed all my scheduled training runs and exceeded my expectations for speed at this point which gives me much more confidence that I will actually complete my goal. Here is last week’s training recap:
- Monday-Baron Baptiste Unlocking Athletic Power Yoga DVD
- Tuesday-Mile repeats on the treadmill-5 miles 46:35
- Wednesday-4 miles 37:44
- Friday-8 miles 1:14:50 outdoors
- Saturday-Rest-I planned on doing some yoga but I woke up with a slightly sore throat and felt that what my body needed was rest. (Occasionally you have to listen to what your body is telling you.)
- Sunday-5 miles 46:32
- Weekly total-22 miles
It is amazing how much my running has improved since I have been following this training plan. My speed has increased, injuries (shin splints, knee pain) have decreased and my overall running feels easier. Consistency is the key.
Running has never come easily to me because I am not a naturally athletic person, I was severely asthmatic as a child up until I was about 24, so I never participated in sports, exercise or anything remotely athletic growing up. As I’ve gotten older exercise has become a part of my life, it makes me feel strong and confident. Now with consistency, follow through and pure determination, running does come a little easier to me on most days.
I hope everyone has a great start to their week! Don’t forget to enter my giveaway from last week I will announce the winner on my blog Wednesday!!
