Today’s 5 mile run was a record breaker for me!!! Even though I went out last night for my friend Steve’s birthday and had a few drinks I still managed to run my scheduled 5 mile training run after work today. I woke up tired and slightly headachy but by the time I got home from work I was ready to run and run I did.
5 miles in 42:19!!! A new PR (personal record)!! Here’s the breakdown:
- Mile 1: 8:31
- Mile 2: 8:21
- Mile 3: 8:17
- Mile 4: 8:19
- Mile 5: 8:49 (against the wind)
- Average pace: 8:28 (well below my goal pace of 8:39/mile for the half-marathon)
I ran like the wind today and here I am at the end of my 5 miles:
If you read my blog yesterday and I hope you did, some runs are just blah and unmotivated. Today’s run was inspired maybe because I felt guilty about going out last night and I wanted to prove something or maybe I just felt motivated today. Either way I scored two new PR’s the second being a 5K in 25:52, my original PR for a 5K was over 10 years ago and I ran it in 26:02. Hopefully my race day will be like today…a great run with a new PR for 13.1 miles.
