There are some days I just don’t want to run and today was one of those days. I had absolutely zero motivation to go run 5 miles after I got home from working today. I knew if I let too much time pass after I got home I would just lay on the couch and skip my training run altogether. Chris attempted to motivate by telling me to think about my Mac but just I wasn’t feeling it. Long story short, still unmotivated I just got dressed, went outside and ran anyway. Sometimes you just have to go out and run whether you want to or not and that is exactly what I did.
When I work on the weekend I usually start early and don’t stop until I am finished seeing all my patients. I usually eat a fairly healthy breakfast but I am pretty much starving by the time I am done working, so about 45 minutes before I figured I would get home I ate a Banana Walnut Gnu Bar as fuel for my anticipated run.
This bar is entirely natural and provides 140 cal., 4g. fat, 30g carb., 4g protein, and a whopping 12g fiber. I am not a big fan of energy bars but I absolutely love this bar. It tastes great and does not bother my stomach at all while running. I also like that it provides me with almost half the amount of fiber I need for the day. Fiber not only helps reduce the risk of diseases such as cancer and heart disease it also plays an important role in weight management and digestive health. Check out all the benefits of fiber here.
Although I didn’t want to go out and run I felt great after I completed this:
- Mile 1: 9:01
- Mile 2: 8:57
- Mile 3: 8:39
- Mile 4: 8:41
- Mile 5: 8:51
- Average pace: 8:47/mile right on target!!
How do you motivate yourself to run when you just don’t feel like doing it?
