Due to this dreary forecast:
I went to the gym this morning for my 4 mile run.
I ran at 6.4 mph (9:23 min/mile) for the majority of the run, except for the last 0.25 mile where I sprinted at 8.0 mph (7:30 min/mile). An average pace of 9:20 min/mile.
The only issue I had today during my run was my earphones.
The earphones that Apple so nicely gives you with their products is not conducive to running. After a few miles between my sweat and the constant pounding these earphones start falling out of my ears……very annoying.
I do have these other earphones that I keep with my iPod shuffle that work great, but I am always forgetting to take them with me to the gym.
These ear phones are great for running because they have the plastic piece that goes behind your ears so they stay in place. They are very comfortable and I never have an issue with them falling out of my ears. I’m thinking I will have to invest in another pair like these to keep in my gym bag.
Today is going to be dreary all day so it is a perfect day for cleaning and organizing, with a little yoga thrown in this afternoon. I haven’t been doing yoga as much as I’d lately and my muscles really need it today.
In addition to yoga and instead of icing with an ice pack I have been using a product called Arctic Ease. I have been using the wraps for the past week or so thanks to my father who actually won a 6 month supply of the wraps on Facebook and was nice enough to give me half of what he won. I love these wraps because I am able to compress and cool my shins without having to sit around with an ice pack for 20 minutes at a time. With Artic Ease I just wrap my legs and then go about my day, after a few hours I take the wraps off, put them bag in their resealable bag, add a tablespoon or two of water and in a few hours they are ready to be reused.
Check out their website for more info on their products, if you are a runner who regularly ices their legs then you are definitely going to want to check them out!!!
