The bad news is:
The good news is that this is my third attempt at trying to get in which means next year I am guaranteed entry. I will be running the 2012 NYC Marathon!!!! Now I have plenty time to prepare and train!
With less than 3 days to go until the Long Island Half Marathon I have been spending the morning checking out the weather and course map.
Weather is looking great, should be in the 50’s when we start which is perfect! My race day outfit should work perfectly. I am hoping to add some colorful compression socks from the health and fitness expo (my current ones are white..blah).
The course looks good, most of the elevation is early on in the race which is great…I don’t want to be running any hills toward the end of the race. The very beginning will probably be the worst part because that area is by Nassau Community College and it is always super windy, but again at least it’s early on in the race.
I am nervous and excited about running the race, I really want to meet my time goal! I am putting together a playlist specifically for the Half Marathon that will hopefully motivate and inspire me to run fast!! Any suggestions on songs are welcome, I need 36 to get me through the 13.1 miles.
Tomorrow I will hit the health and fitness expo to pick up my race packet, hopefully I will nab a lot of free samples and find some cool running gear in the process. The expo’s are one of my favorite parts of the race because I always find cool stuff geared specifically towards runners that I can’t get in regular sports stores.
