Where did the week go? Wasn’t it just Monday? This week has just sped by between my paperwork from the weekend, workouts and an interview it’s already gone. Don’t you feel like there are times that your week just gets sucked up into oblivion somewhere? This is one of those weeks and since this weekend is the Fourth of July I have a busy 3 day work weekend coming up…..”sigh”.
I have worked weekends and holidays for close to 2 1/2 years as a homecare nurse and I am growing weary of giving them all up for work, I am per visit so when I do get a weekend off it is unpaid so they are few and far between. Since Abby is now potty trained I am ready to get back to working a regular Monday-Friday work week, so today I had my first interview for a normal full-time position, I will tell you more if I get the position. The interview went well so I feel pretty good about but only time will tell if I am selected….keeping my fingers crossed.
Since Abby will be starting school it is also about time I get back to school to obtain my Bachelor’s degree. I graduated in ’06 from an Associate degree nursing program and although I hold the same license as a Bachelor’s degree nurse many hospitals on Long Island are not hiring nurses unless they have a Bachelor’s degree. I am very happy where I work and do not plan on leaving anytime soon but if I wanted to without a Bachelor’s degree in nursing my options would be limited.
I have been researching a bunch of schools to get my bachelors degree online it’s just deciding which one is right for me, also if I get a full time job then in 6 months I am eligible for tuition reimbursement so it would be beneficial to wait until then to enroll. While I wait I will be looking for the best nursing school to match my needs.
Has anyone pursued a degree online? What do you feel are the Pros and Cons?
Workout wise it’s been a good week so far. Sunday I ran a 5K, Monday I rollerbladed 10 miles pushing the jogging stroller, Tuesday I did the Butt Bible level 3 (upper and lower body) and Supreme 90 Day Ultimate Ball, and yesterday I ran 2 miles and did Supreme 90 Day Cardio Challenge. My legs are started to look really toned which is very motivating.
Next week I start my Half-Marathon training for the Diva’s Half in October. I also have the Virginia Beach Rock’N’Roll Half September 1st but I am planning that race to be the last long run of my training for October, then I will taper down during the last month. I am hoping to PR in October, hopefully a good training plan plus my new orthotics will get me there.
Be sure and check out my giveaway for The Butt Bible, 2 winners will be picked and it is open until July 4th at midnight.
