My podiatrist visit yesterday went as expected, my orthotics have to be sent back for further adjustments. This unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, leaves me without the orthotics for at least a week or longer if I don’t get them back before I go away. Where does that leave me while running over the next couple of weeks……with a new pair of
Nike Free, minimalist sneakers Reebok RealFlex.
This morning at 5 am I hit the gym for a 30 minute Tempo Run with my new minimalist sneakers. I figured the best place to try them out for the first time would be on the treadmill, plus as much as I dislike the treadmill for regular runs and long runs, I really like it for speedwork especially in this hot, humid weather we have been having.
- 10 minute warmup at 6.0 mph (10 min mile)
- 10 minute Tempo at 7.0 mph (8:34 min mile-10K pace)
- 10 minute cooldown at 6.2 mph (9:41 min mile)
- Total: 30 min, 3.17 miles
- Walked 0.25 miles at 3.2 mph to stretch out legs post run
The sneakers did not cause me any pain, I felt great running in them. I could feel my calves working harder so we will see how I feel tomorrow in regards to soreness. No blisters and no pain in my feet through the whole three miles equals a successful run.
I can barely life my arms over my head from yesterday’s CrossFit class so I may have to adjust my Supreme 90 Day workout today, upper body is not looking so promising. I may do legs or Tabata Blast today instead. I also forgot to include yoga into my week so I will probably do some yoga later too!
I hope everyone had a fantastic day, stay cool!!!
