My Half-Marathon Training officially started yesterday, exactly 12 weeks until the Diva’s Half-Marathon and 8 weeks until the Virginia Beach Rock’N’Roll Half-Marathon. Perfect timing if I say so myself and it was completely unplanned, I actually thought I was closer to 10 weeks so this works out much better. Here is week 1’s plan:
I finished the plan last night (talk about last minute), but be mindful I have not filled in my cross training for the whole 12 weeks only the 1st week thus far. I will be working on that part over the next few days, it should be complete by the end of the week.
Yesterday was a scorcher so I decided to run my 3 miles at 7:30 am. I went to put on my Garmin only to find out that it was dead, I forgot to charge it. So the run was sans Garmin, good thing I know my routes……I have 3, 4, 5 and 6 miles routes from my home memorized, if I need a another distance I just use mapmyrun.com. I completed 3 miles in about 28 minutes, not too bad considering the heat was killer. I foresee many 5-6 am runs in my future, at least while the weather is hot.
This morning I hit another CrossFit class at 6am. I am loving CrossFit Revenge!!! I will be joining for the rest of the month for 2 days a week, I think that is all I can handle at this point while I am training for my upcoming Half-Marathons.
I am going back to the podiatrist today because my orthotics are continuing to give me issues, at this rate I may just ask for my money back. How many times am I supposed to send these things back until they are right, if I can’t run in them then there is no point in having them. I can run 3 miles but then start developing blisters and pain on the inner edges of both my feet. 😥 We will see what the doctor says today but I am seriously considering trying some minimalist shoes, I am shopping around now for them, I will let you know how it goes.
