I find I have no problem motivating myself to workout all week until the weekend comes and then my ambition to workout dwindles to nothing. I work every weekend and holiday as a homecare nurse and I see anywhere from 8-12 patients each day, so by the time I get home I am exhausted plus I am left with about 4 hours worth of paperwork to do too. Do I feel like working out….not so much.
I know what you are thinking, get up early and exercise before work, easier said than done. I am usually an early morning exerciser but lately I just have not been able to get myself out of bed….so I don’t and I exercise later in the day. This system works out fine during the week but once the weekend comes I find 90% of the time I just skip my workout altogether. On a regular weekend that’s not so bad but when I have a three day weekend of work like this one, skipping my workouts throws me completely off track. Something’s got to give.
Yesterday I got home after a long day, did some paperwork and talked myself into working out. You know the drill, I repeated these to myself: do it you will feel better, it will give you more energy, you want to meet your goals don’t you? Guilt set in and at 5:50 I worked out. I did the Supreme 90 Day Shoulders and Arms workout which includes a set of abs so I was able to knock of my 100 reps for #Fitblog Abs Challenge too!!! Multitasking at it’s best.
My strategy for upcoming weekends is to start getting up early again and working out, so when the weekend comes I will have no problem with fitting exercise into my schedule. You snooze, you lose so I need to wake myself up and work out.
We will see how it goes.
How do you fit in working out when you work?
