All I can say is wow!! It is inspiring to watch the NYC marathon. Runners from all over the world come together on this day every year to run what I must say is probably the most amazing marathon that can be run……..although as a New Yorker I am a little bias. There are many reasons why people set out the run this marathon: to win, to achieve a personal best, in honor of a loved one, for charity, to run in one of the most amazing cities in the world and the list can go on forever.
Next year I will get to be a part of this marathon and I will get to achieve a goal that has been on my radar for many years. My goal for this marathon is to run it in about 4 hours…..there I said it, I put it out there for everyone to read. Even as I write it I get both nervous and excited. A lofty goal I know but one I think is achievable if I set my mind to it and train properly. I have a year from today to prepare and that is exactly what I plan to do prepare to the best of my ability, then hope we get a day as perfect as today!
I began my blog last year as a way to keep myself accountable while training to complete a sub-2 hour 1/2 marathon and I achieved this goal on May 1, 2011 at the Long Island 1/2 Marathon. This year I plan to use my blog to propel me towards the goal of running a 4 hour marathon at the NYC Marathon next year. Maybe my 34th year of life will be my most accomplished thus far……..
Congrats to all the runners that ran and are still running the NYC Marathon today!!!! Congrats to Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya who won the NYC marathon today!!! He crossed the finish line at 2:05:06 creating a new record for the course!!! Congrats to Firehiwot Dado of Ethiopia who won the women’s title today with an amazing time of 2:23:15. Unbelievable!!!!
If you ran today whatever your time you should be proud of this great accomplishment!! Congrats all!!
