Running again has been amazing!! Being able to come home from work and go out for run has been a privilege I have missed.
Injuries suck and I am going to do my damnedest not to get injured again. To accomplish this I have been running free……free of my Garmin, my iPod, my phone and my watch. My runs have consisted of me, the road and my Road ID but otherwise free of any device that can measure my time, pace or mileage. Now you must understand that I love technology but my problem is that when I run with said technology I check my pace constantly and then I push myself to go faster which can get me into trouble so I have decided for the time being I am just going to run completely technology free.
I can be my own worst enemy sometimes so by running technology free I have been able to enjoy my runs at my natural pace which ends up being between 9:00-9:30 mile. I have been able to get back in touch with myself and why I love running so much which is because it is one of the only times I feel completely calm and stress free. I want to run for the rest of my life and if that means running slower than I would like then so be it!
I still have high hopes that I will meet the goals I have set for times in the 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon and marathon but maybe not this year. Right now I need to my focus is to run injury free while building a good mileage base and then I will work on my time goals. Ultimately my biggest goal this year is to complete my first marathon which will hopefully be the NYC Marathon in November.
Pinterest is a big help on keeping my inspired and motivated. Here are a few things I pinned recently to help keep my going:

Great post! Glad to see you’re out running after an injury. I’m so afraid to cut the technology umbilical cord, so to speak. I’m so dependent on it but totally see how doing without it can do a world of good and free you up to just enjoy the run. Maybe now I’ll give it a whirl!
It’s nice to take a break every now and then from technology!
Love those pins!
