Yesterday I ran The Jelly Bean 5K!!!
I almost backed on running because my friend Crystal and I finally turned in our Groupons for kickboxing on Tuesday night which resulted in a severely sore body Wednesday morning.
We were running out of time on this Groupon so it was now or never!! We went to Emerson Souza Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Baldwin for the class which is in between both our homes. We ended up getting 5 kickboxing classes because they do not offer personal training sessions, which is perfectly fine by me and boxing gloves. This class was a killer!!! I felt it was more of a bootcamp type class than a kickboxing class, which again perfectly fine by me! Within 5 minutes I was covered in sweat and my friend Crystal was ready to die but we both survived the class which lasted a little over an hour. I will give you a more detailed review after I complete all my classes but I will say that this class was good enough that I was ready to sign up for more!
I was already sore before I took the class so you can imagine how I felt Wednesday morning but I was determined to run The Jelly Bean no matter what!!! I couldn’t ask for better weather and I figured I would be even more sore today so after work I didn’t stop to think, I just changed into my running gear and headed out for The Jelly Bean 5K.
Overall the run was great! I would have liked to have been a little faster but considering that this was my first “race” post injury I did great and I was happy to run it in under 30 minutes! The weather was perfect at around 70 and I am loving that everything is blooming because it looks to pretty but I do have one complaint. There are these trees that bloom flowers and they stink 🙁 They literally smell like pee and it is actually painful to run past them. They look pretty but the smell just kills me.
Bad smelling trees and all I survived my run and ran faster that I expected which was a pleasant surprise.
Thanks Jess for hosting an awesome Virtual Race!!!! My racing season has officially begun!!!! Now today I feel like I was hit by at truck but hopefully the soreness will diminish quickly!
Did you run The Jelly Bean? Let me know how you did and feel free to link up any posts in the comment field I’d love to read them all!!!!
