The heat on Long Island the past few days has been terrible
The heat and humidity started Wednesday with temps in the high 90′s followed by 100 + degree temps on Thursday and with today’s temps expected to reach the mid 90′s, definitely not ideal running weather. I have been running in the afternoon after work and I just cannot do it when the weather gets this hot so this morning I got up at 5 am and hit the gym for the 10K portion of my Welcome to Summer Virtual Run.
I find the “dreadmill” extremely boring unless I am doing some sort of interval or speed work and the GYMBOSS Interval Timer is a great companion for these types of runs. I hate seeing exactly how much time has passed and knowing how much time I have to go while I am running on the treadmill it just makes the time drag on forever. When I usually do interval training on the treadmill I have to watch the time so I know when to adjust my speed but with my GYMBOSS I just listen for the “beep” and increase the speed instead of staring at the time.
I created a special workout just for my treadmill 10K:
My GYMBOSS made doing this workout super easy!!! I just set my GYMBOSS to beep every 2 minutes and to repeat 5 times for each ladder which made moving through the ladder a breeze!!! I didn’t have to focus on the time, I just concentrated on the blogs I was reading on blogshelf my workout and adjusting the speed.
The GYMBOSS can be used as a repeating interval timer, a countdown timer or a stopwatch and can be used for any type of workout you can think of from running to cross fit. The GYMBOSS is a great addition to any gym bag!!!
You can read my last review of GYMBOSS here which includes a Tabata workout!
You can learn more about GYMBOSS on their website. You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
GYMBOSS is also one of the sponsors for my Welcome to Summer Virtual Run and you can be entered to win one by participating.
Disclosure: GYMBOSS has provided one of their interval timers for a prize in my Welcome to Summer Virtual Run. I was not compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

It’s a great little gadget!
There are a few ways for me …
1) watch the tv in front of me
2) HIIT
3) Hills
4) Ladder type work and
5) a mixture of all the above! Haha.
It’s really hard to beat, but can def be done

I do all of the above too!
I’ve never heard of GymBoss either, but I just checked out their website from the link you gave and it seems really cool. Liked your review about it as well. I do high intensity intervals all the time and this little device is going to make that a lot easier. On a treadmill I usually just do one of the preset interval workouts to avoid the boredom. Easier than having to adjust speeds manually and all that. But I suppose with this GymBoss thing I could create my own treadmill interval workout which could be a lot of fun. I think I’ll try your ladder workout first and then make one of my own.
Thanks for the tip, great blog you have here. Wish I had discovered it sooner!

Better late than never…lol! Thanks so much for participating!
I don’t run on a treadmill, but I NEED one of these. I love to run using the Jeff Galloway method. It would be so nice to have an interval timer so I don’t have to keep my iPhone in my hand, continuously glancing at it throughout my run to make sure I hit my run/walk intervals correctly, or not miss them all-together!
