I know what your are thinking…..sardines……really?????? They are gross! I thought the same thing 15 years ago when my friend Crystal offered me sardines for the first time but they are awesome!!!! Contrary to popular belief sardines are actually quite delicious. They are also extremely healthy and make for a great portable meal!
What are some the health benefits of eating sardines?
- Sardines are rich in Omega-3′s. Research has shown Omega 3′s can help reduce inflammation and may help lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis.
- Sardines are rich in calcium, vitamin D and phosphorous which help promote bone health.
- Sardines are rich in Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 helps promote a healthy immune system, helps regulate the nervous system (preventing depression and mood swings), and is essential for healthy skin, hair and nails.
My sardine sandwich consisted of Ezekiel bread, avocado, roasted red peppers and of course King Oscar sardines.
You can read more about KIng Oscar sardines and their benefits on the King Oscar Seafood website. You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Give sardines a try and check out King Oscar, if you like seafood I am sure you won’t be disappointed!!!
Disclosure: King Oscar provided a prize for my virtual run and samples for me to try. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Maybe someday……
We do eat sardines occasionally. Economical and protein-packed!
Sometimes I like the ones that come packed in mustard…. take the fish from the sauce, and mash with a bit of may… add chopped carrots, peppers and onion and then use as a sandwich filling or on lettuce leaves as a salad. Yum.
