By Sunday I was feeling much better and debated for awhile whether or not I should run but in the end I opted for one more rest day from running so I wouldn’t end up relapsing. Although I didn’t run I did participate in some fun activities like gardening, washing the cars, bike riding, tree climbing and setting up our waterside. We barbecued and had a great afternoon with the family followed by a little night time fun at a local bar Boss Croker’s.
Since Chris got his new bike with a bike seat for Abby we have been doing a lot more bike riding lately which is good considering I am doing the Danskin Triathlon in September. We stopped at a park during our bike rise and they had a great climbing tree which I just couldn’t resist:
It’s funny because when we were kids things like climbing tree were so effortless and although it appears this is efforts to me it actually was very hard to hold onto that tree and pose for a pic! I couldn’t hang my neck back because it hurt (I must have slept wrong) and I hung on just long enough for Chris to snap the pic. After I got down I kind of wished I was a kid again when these activities were effortless and pain free. *Sigh*
After the bike ride we barbecued and then set up our new waterside for Abby, Angelica and of course Chris to play on!!! I did not join them this time but I will next time we set it up because it looked like loads of fun!!!
After everyone finished playing on the waterslide Chris and I headed to the bar for some beer and wings!! Boss Croker’s, a local bar, has the best buffalo wings around and Sunday nights are usually quiet there so we sometimes for an hour or two to just hang out with Charlie one of our favorite bartenders! Last night after Charlie finished his shift he was followed by another awesome bartender named Marc who we had met for the first a few months ago and could not forget because he has one of the best “radio” voices I have ever heard!
What I love about Marc is listening to him talk because he really does have the most amazing voice!! We also discovered last night that Marc is also a writer, actor and blogger!!! He blogs over at Marc Williams Rants mostly about movies and sports. I just become so fascinated with meeting other bloggers and even convinced him to let me go behind the bar so we could take a pic together:
It was a great weekend, at least Sunday was great because I was feeling well enough to enjoy it!! Monday morning I woke up and was ready for a fresh start after being sick for much of last week! My plans are to start fresh, ease back into running and exercise, and to not get sick anymore which also happens be my biggest motivator this week!! I ran a short 2 miles with Chris after work and other than a little coughing I actually felt pretty good, it feels awesome to be back!!!
Here is my motivation for this week:
How was your weekend? What is motivating you this week?

Sounds like a great weekend!
I did some relaxing; subbed out my Sunday morning step class, went for a walk with my family and went to a quiet hatha class with my daughter. All recharged for the week!
And yes, tree-climbing is much harder than it looks! Just like pull-ups…

Thanks!! Sounds like your weekend was awesome too!!!
Love the quote about playing! Good for you for getting up into that tree. It’s so true that we must keep ourselves young

Oh man I don’t even know the last time I tried climbing a tree. I bet I’d be embarrassed LOL. So glad you’re feeling better and had a lovely weekend!

Thanks Heather!
I love your motivation for the week! It’s so incredibly true.
I used to climb trees all the time as a kid…there were this willowy trees by my house growing up, and they kept us hidden when we played in them. Brings back memories. 🙂
This week, I’m one week away from my first double-digit run…and I’m nervous but motivated by the fact that I’m running it for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day cause. Just me, the greenway, and memories. 🙂
Thanks Melissa! Good luck with your run, you will do great!
