Week 3 Marathon Training Recap and Best Body Bootcamp Begins
by Toni Church on July 23, 2012
Week 3 ended up being another short running week due to the many aches and pain that I developed from my back being out which caused me have some issues with my gait. I went to the chiropractor on Monday so he could adjust my back and I immediately felt better but my hip and shins still needed time to recover.
I ran at total of 14.37 miles this week. Here is the breakdown:
Tuesday-Hurdles and speed work with the We Are Athletes Racing Team. I did a 1 mile warm-up followed by 3/4 mile of hurdles and sprints followed by 1 mile of speed work and then a cool down lap.
Overall a good week!! I missed my Friday workout because we were away and it was pouring so hard that the streets were flooded so bad I couldn’t run on them. I didn’t have access to a treadmill so I forfeited the run figuring it was probably for the better since my shins were still bothering me. If I had run on Thursday I planned my mileage probably would have been about 18 miles for the week which to some people may seem low for marathon training but I have confidence that my coach knows exactly what he is doing I will be ready for NYC in November.
I am looking forward to a great week of training this week as my aches and pains have finally subsided despite my long run on Sunday!!!
This week I also start Round 2 of Tina Reale’s Best Body Bootcamp!!!! I desperately needed to add in the cross training that I have been severely neglecting since the beginning of marathon training so since I loved Tina’s first bootcamp I figured round 2 would be perfect!!! I plan to follow all of the strength training portions exactly and then running in place of the suggested cardio. The flexibility of this plan is awesome plus there is a chance to win $1000 at the end if you have fully participated!!! If you have tried this bootcamp yet then I suggest you keep a lookout for round 3 coming up around the holiday season!!
I’m glad you had a good running week and that your legs are starting to feel better! I get bummed, too, when the weather is nasty and I can’t run on a treadmill. But, if your legs were hurting you, an extra rest day was probably a good thing anyway. Beth (Running with the Sunrise) recently posted..Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Race Recap
Glad you’re feeling better with the runs! I know you will do great with your marathon. Plus, some extra strength and functional work never hurts. Tina @ Best Body Fitness recently posted..This Is Just Too Cool
