Breaking through a plateau can be difficult but I feel this quote perfectly describes what you need to do to get past one!!! There are times when you feel like you will never achieve another PR or lose another pound but sometimes we need to just push ourselves extra hard to break through the “wall” that is in our way in order to gain success and defeat the dreaded plateau.
Here are a few tips I have for breaking through a plateau:
- Change your routine: Whether it is running, weight training, losing weight or anything else you may be doing, if you are not seeing results then you need to change your routine. Our bodies are amazing and adjust rapidly so if you continue to do the same routine over and over again your body will just adjust and stay exactly the same.
- Keep a food log: You can exercise regularly but if your diet is crappy you will not see results. Sometimes we think we are eating healthy but a food log can help us see exactly what we are eating and whether or not we are taking in too many calories, it is possible to overeat good foods too!
- Hire a professional: Hiring a personal trainer or a coach to help you adjust your program.
- Seek medical advice: If all else fails see your primary doctor. There may be some underlying ailment, like a thyroid condition, that is preventing you from breaking through your plateau.
Breaking through a plateau is not always easy but it is possible if you take the necessary steps to adjust your plan!!!

Love the quote! I agree about the food log! Sometimes I am eating more than I think that I am!

Thanks Nancy!!!
These are some really good points! I’ve been feeling bad about some bad runs I’ve had this week but I didn’t even think that maybe the fact that I ate like crap last week could have something to do with it. Time to increase those servings of fruits and veggies. Thanks for all of the tips!
