McCormick was one of this year’s FitBloggin Sponsors and I was one of the lucky bloggers who got to tour their testing center on Thursday.
Shortly after I arrived at the hotel I met up with Carlyn from Just Keep Sweating and Gina from Burning Babi Fat who were both taking the same tour!!
We headed to McCormick a little after 12 for the tour of their tasting center which was about 20 minutes away from out hotel. Upon arrival they tantalized our tastebuds with an amazingly delicious and healthy lunch!!!!
I had a little bit of everything and it was all delicious!!! I cleaned my plate!! You can find all these recipes and more on McCormick’s website.
During lunch we learned about McCormick’s new campaign Generation Fresh which is all about increasing the flavor of your recipes with herbs and spices while reducing fat, sodium and sugar. McCormick is hoping to inspire people to make more wholesome meals at home with flavorful herbs and spices!!!!
After lunch we moved on to the tour!!! The first half of the tour they demonstrated the recipes we had for lunch and how easy they were to make which made these recipes less intimidating for me because as a busy working mom I look for recipes that are easy!!! The last stop of the tour included @chefmarcgarcia and @eatmovebe talking about roasting veggies, using juice to enhance food and cooking once eating twice!!!!! I will be elaborating on all of these tips in future blog posts!!!!
After the first half of the tour we moved on to a delicious dessert which included three different types of mousses-fudge brownie, pina colada and strawberry shortcake. They were all awesome plus I got to hang out with Christie from Average Mom’s Wear Capes!!!!!!
The second half of the tour was all about the sciences of taste! The most profound experiment for me was when they asked us to hole our noses, put cinnamon gum in our mouth, chew and then let our noses go. All I can say is that I never understood how much smell influences out taste until that very moment. While my nose was closed I only felt a burning sensation but tasting absolutely nothing until I opened my nose and then the flood of cinnamon was overwhelming. I always knew that diminished smell impacted your taste but now that I know the true impact I think everyone should try this experiment.
It was an awesome experience and my head is spinning with ideas for new recipes that I can create at home!!!
We also received this awesome swag bag:
I will have recipe posts coming in the next few weeks that have been inspired by my tour of McCormick!!!!
How do you incorporate herbs and spices into your meals to make them healthier?
