Week 9 of marathon training ended with a new PDR (14.2 miles) and a painful knee. Check out my recap of the 14.2 training run for full details. Thankfully the outcome of my doctor’s appointment was good and I will be able to continue on my marathon journey after a few rest days!!! Check out my vlog below:
I plan to do yoga at leat 3-4 x a week and I am actually shooting for daily to keep my muscles thoroughly stretched. My new Mizuno sneakers are awesome, they are supportive and light!! I actually needed to get a 9.5 which is a whole size up from what I normally wear but I have full confidence that these are the sneakers for me thanks to Ellen at the Runner’s Stop. I alos plan to stretch every night using my new stretching rope as advised by my friend Tom who swears that this has helped keep him injury free.
What advice do you have for me to stay injury free over the next 2 months????

yes, love him!
I’m so glad that everything is ok with your knee! I add listen to your body and do weight training. I have found that when my muscles are strong, the ligaments and such are less likely to go bad!

Hope your rest is making it all feel better!
My brother hurt his knee and has to get an MRI next week-it’s killing him not to run right now!

I hope your brother feels better, lucky my tests were normal…thanks!
Like others have said listen to your body and not ignore it. The yoga and lifting weights will help, but one of the things that I find really helpful is getting a deep tissue massage at least once a month. I am going to start again pretty soon, definitely need it for my training.
