I have to say that I always feel like I am younger than I actually am, that is until yesterday. I promised my 15 year old that I would take her to Great Adventure and yesterday was the day……unfortunately. I feel young, but I am actually old, especially after experiencing Kingda Ka.

I can now cross Kingda Ka off my bucket list….I have no desire to ever go on this ride again, or to actually go to Great Adventure at all again. My 15 year old has wanted to go on Kingda Ka for a few years now and everytime she went went it was closed…….I actually promised to take her to Great Adventure which is what led us here this weekend.

A rare pic with Angelica, my 15 year old;

The day literally consisted of seven hours of driving, six hours of waiting on lines and 4 actual rides (less than 4 minutes total). I left the park feeling like I had the flu…..achy and tired. I am way tooooo old to be going on these rides and after this experience, I am ready to retire.
We waited over 20 minuted for “frenech fries”. In all actuality they were called butterfly flies, wither way they were really gross. Not only did we wait over 20 minutes for these “fries”, we were excited for them because we were starving.
In the end we ended up with a “potato cake” of grease, that left an unappetizing taste on our tongues
great reason to bring your own snacks to an amusement park!!!!!
The ride home from Great Adventure was a nightmare. My GPS decided to take us in the most round about way to get back to White Plains where my sister-in-law lives. After dropping her off I figured we had less than an hour until we got home, but as soon as I hit dead stop traffic at the Throgs Neck Bridge I knew I was seriously mistaken. This nightmare of a day was meant to end on a horrible note….I ended up arriving home an hour and a half later very tired.
I will NEVER again go to Six Flags Great Adventure. Six hours of driving, SIx hours of waiting and four hours of rides for the money we paid was certainly not worth my time.
Great Adventure pretty much sucked and what sucks even worse is Hurricane Sandy.
We are prepping and preparing for Hurricane Sandy, praying for the best but expecting the worst.
This storm is huge:

This is a huge storm that should not be taken lightly by any East Coaster!!! Be sure to be packed and ready to evacuate if necessary, otherwise be safe!!!!
I am hoping not to lose power but the odds are against me
See ya after the storm!!!

Thanks Carla!
I’m pretty thankful Kingda Ka was closed last time I went, the Superman ride was definitely bad enough. It’s also pretty cheesy that they charge extra for parking and the Halloween themed stuff, I went last year around this time and I can’t even imagine how annoyed I would have been if we didn’t get a speed pass, it’s just about the only thing that is worth the extra money.
Glad to see you made it through Sandy so well, good luck and fast power to you and yours!
