Another week gone, a new week lies ahead. November is just around the corner. How will you make the most of it????
I plan to build my body up so WHEN I can run again in 4 weeks I will be ready!
I had my 1 month follow up appointment with the orthopedist yesterday and it seems he will not give me an official running start date, just a reevaluation date in 4 weeks. I pretty much knew I would not be running for at least 4 more weeks, but I wanted a firm yes rather than we will see how you are in 4 weeks.
I will start Physical therapy next Friday and continue 2x a week for 4 weeks. I also expect to get my AquaJogger in the mail on Tuesday, so pool running will start Wednesday or Thursday. In addition I will be adding back in spinning, yoga, and strength training as long as it doesn’t hurt my leg. I WILL be ready to run in 4 weeks!!!
My first official “race” will be the Commitment Day 5K on 1/1/13. If you haven’t signed up for Commitment Day yet you can use the code “CORP0598” for $5 off your registration!! You can learn more about Commitment Day on their website. Be sure to check it out because it looks to be an awesome event!! If you are in the NYC area and are planning on running, let me know in the comments.
As you can see I have running on my mind, but on another note I need some advice regarding spinning shoes. This summer I purchased a spin bike, which Chris and I put together ourselves, so I could cross train without impact.
Considering I have a stress fracture you can see how much good that did me, although that is probably because I didn’t really cross train, I just ran. LAst week I tried to add spinning back into my regimen and after the second session my shin was aching, so I didn’t do anymore spinning. When I mentioned it to the orthopedist yesterday he asked if I had spin shoes, because apparently regular shoes will make you do more work with the front of your legs, affecting my shin, but spin shoes allow you to work the back of your legs.
This I did not know, did you?? So for anyone that does spinning, do you use spin shoes??? If so, what kind?? I would love any and all recommendations. Thanks all!!!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!! I am off to Six Flags Great Adventure tomorrow with my 15 year old, her friend and my sister-in-law!! Pray for me! I am thinking I am too old to be going on these type of rides…lol!!!!!
What are your weekend plans??

Thanks for the code. I’ve never run a 5K but am going to sign up for Commitment day in STL. I haven’t told my family yet because I’m not sure how they’ll react. I hate the coldbut this is such a low key event I think it will be good for my first time out.
I know nothing about spinning — sorry. But it does look like you got a good bike. Is it the sme one that is in most gyms?

You’ll have to let me know how pool running goes. I’ve been wanting to try it, but my runs have been so long lately, I’d be in the pool FOREVER!!!
