The Journey Is Over But The Dream Lives On………

Thursday morning I went to the doctor and found out that I in fact do have a stress fracture in my left tibia which means no running for at least the next 8 weeks.  My journey to the NYC Marathon, my first marathon, has abruptly ended for this year and as difficult it was to cancel my registration I know it is the right thing to do for my health!!!

I recorded this short vlog in the car after I found out my results:

This year has been a bad year for me in the running department but I have full confidence that 2013 will be better!!!!  Life could always be worse and in the grand scheme of things this is just a tiny set back.  I will be up and running in 8 weeks and I will be running the NYC Marathon in 2013!!!!!

Have you had a major injury that kept you from an event??

Toni the journey is not over, just a new one has started, you will return stronger, better trained and be more ready for NYC next year. It isn’t about something ending, it is more about something started and you have started training for next year. Plus you will have everyone here to help support you towards your goal!

Sorry about your injury and cancelling your marathon plans. You will be that much more ready and healthy next year:) I have dealt with ITB issues and PF, but nothing serious (knock on wood). Injuries are so darn frustrating! Get some rest and come back swinging in 8 weeks:)

Sorry to hear that! It’s so hard to train so hard for something and see it all go away with just a few words from a doctor. When I was a senior in high school, I broke my left tibia early in the football season. I had been hotly recruited by some major schools, and when that happened, they slowly faded away. I didn’t let it get me down though. I rehabbed, played in the senior all-star game, and went on to play college football elsewhere. It wasn’t my dream school — but I still had the opportunity to play. Just keep pushing. You’ll get that NYC marathon in the books before you know it!
