I first heard about DietBet back in December through one of my blogger friends.  Place a bet, lose weight, win money……what could be better?!?!  Oh, did I forget to mention the support you get from your fellow participants, that really helps in the motivation department.  I won my DietBet in December and and not only did I walk away with a $40 profit, I walked away almost six pounds lighter.

I had planned for that particular DietBet to set me up for success in the New Year, but unfortunately for me the New Year has pretty much only brought me illness and now the flu icon sad I Challenge You To A DietBet!!! #FFDietBet  I NEED to get back on track and the FitFluential January DietBet is just what the doctor ordered!!!!!!

The opportunity and timing to work with FitFluential on this DietBet couldn’t be better as I need the motivation now more than even ever, especially after suffering from the flu.  As you can see the pot is currently at $2225 and growing each day, I am expecting it to get pretty high thanks to the FitFluential Community.

Here is how DietBet works:

Basically, you sign up for an account, pick your DietBet, pay the bet, weigh in, lose 4% of your body weight, weigh out and collect your winnings.  Your “official” weigh in is done 1-2 days prior to the start of the game with two pictures: (1) your feet on the scale with your weight and a word that DietBet gives you visible; (2) a full body pic of you on the scale.  I know some people may be apprehensive about sharing your weight, but rest assured that the default setting on DietBet does not allow your weight to be shown unless you change it.  You weigh out the same exact way.  I received my winnings within a week and I had the choice to keep it in my DietBet account or transfer it to Paypal, I chose the latter, but if you are planning on doing more DietBets you may just want to leave it in your DietBet account.

The Dietbet site is sure catching on. I see it all over the place on twitter now. I am doing one with Run with Jess at the moment and have another 1.8 pounds to go. It sure makes losing weight fun though. =) Good luck with your Dietbet!

I’m still deciding whether I should do it or not. If not this one, I hope we will have another one in the future and I’ll join that one. Maybe closer to summer. I have too much going on right now I think, I don’t think I want to add more onto my plate, in terms of stuff to do and accomplish haha.

I think this is such a fun idea! What a great way to get motivated. I was actually thinking about joining, but since losing a few pounds since the start of the new year I don’t need or want to lose more. Though I seriously though about gaining a few in the next week just so I could play too! :-)
