Happy Friday all!!!
I love working out at home and I have a large collection of workout DVDs to prove it!!! Most recently I had the opportunity to try out Cathe Friedrich’s new XTrain DVD Super Cuts thanks to FitFluential. Cathe is awesome, she is one of the first trainers I fell in love with on DVD because she wasn’t afraid of using heavier weights. Most DVDs back in the late 90’s when I started working out weren’t that challenging but Cathe’s always left me sore 🙂
When I got the Super Cuts DVD in the mail I couldn’t wait to try it out!!!! This DVD does require some equipment including, dumbbells, slide discs, dixie cups, and bands. I had everything I needed in my house already, but if you don’t they are easy to pick up at your local sporting goods store or you could just do without them, I could have used just dumbbells and still have gotten a fantastic workout.
The workout is 45 minutes in total including a warm up and cool down, the perfect amount of time for a workout if you ask me. I like having a variety of different length workout DVDs available at home so that I have the option to choose on based on how much time I have available, but I rarely buy workouts that are longer than 45 minutes because I find I just can’t fit them into my day.
The workout was great!! Cathe takes you through a circuit training routine that includes a huge variety of functional exercises, with little rest in between exercises. This workout keeps your heart pumping the whole time!! This video is a part of Cathe’s Xtrain series, but can definitely stand alone!!
There are two Bonus core workouts that left my abs screaming!!! At 10-12 minutes, these core workouts can be added to your workout any day of the week, although I will say doing them back to back will be difficult.
There is also a 100 rep challenge included. The challenge on this DVD was hip thrusts, and at 6 minutes you can easily add this to your regimen a few times a week too!!
Overall I give this DVD an A+!!! I am looking forward to trying out the other videos in the series!!!!
Some of my other favorite workout DVDs are:
- Baron Baptiste Unlocking Athletic Power
- Marta Montenegro MM21 Endurance DVD
- Body By Bethenny
- Results Fitness
The best part about workout DVDs is that you never have to leave your house to get in a great workout, plus you can take them on vacation with you too!!!
Do you use workout DVDs??? What is your favorite??
