I know I am a little late with this post, but the week just got crazy! I have been busy with work and school, leaving little time for blogging!!
This week was pretty much a fail 🙁 I did not meet my daily step goal and I did not do any type exercise except for running. This week is not looking much better and on top of that I have not been running. I ran 9.7 miles on Sunday and the last two miles my right achilles started tightening, I kept running despite the slight pain and now I have not run since. I am thinking tomorrow I will tackle a couple of miles and hopefully it does not hurt.
Here is my wrap up:
- Monday: steps: 6600
- Tuesday: 3 mile run; steps: 9982
- Wednesday: steps: 6918
- Thursday: 2 mile run with my new Altra Zero Drop sneakers; steps: 9983
- Friday: steps: 6535
- Saturday: steps: 4527
- Sunday: 9.7 mile run; steps: 19,036
I have no goals for this week, just to complete the Bronx 10 miler on Sunday if my achilles allows it.
The best part of last week was getting my new Altra Zero Drop sneakers in the mail:
I needed to run in these babies right away!!!! On Thursday I took them for a 2 mile run just to get the feel of them! I think it may have been love at first run, but they will require some transitioning before I can make them my primary running sneakers. I love the foot shaped toe box!!! Lately, my pinky toes have been killing me when I run, they both have turned black, but with the foot shaped toe box my pinky toes have never felt better. The foot shaped toe box allows the natural separation of the toes, rather than constricting them, which made my run pain free.
These sneakers definitely promoted a mid-foot strike rather than a heel strike, which will hopefully help cut down on my injuries. The biggest lesson that these sneakers taught me was that I really need to strengthen my calves and ankles, because they were extremely sore for a few days after the run. I will be transitioning into these sneakers over the next month and will hopefully be ready to run the Runner’s World Half in them.
Have you tried Altra Zero Drop?? What do you think?
