Today was my last day as a home care RN at South Nassau Communities Hospital after six years of service. Saying goodbye was bittersweet. While I am ready to move forward with my career and focus on another area of nursing, it was sad to leave behind what felt like family. My supervisor Mary Beth arranged for a beautiful goodbye breakfast to wish me luck on my new endeavor. Saying goodbye was harder than I expected, but everyone made my day an easy one. My work “mom” Beryl treated me to a delicious lunch of soft shell crab at Ayhan’s!!! Saying that final goodbye to everyone at the end of the day was difficult, but I am looking forward to my future at Winthrop University Hospital.
Now that today is just about over, I am so excited to be leaving for Pennsylvania tomorrow to head to the Runner’s World Half and Festival.
