Winter is just around corner, although by the temperature and snow that we have been having the past few weeks, I’d say it is here. With winter, along with the cold weather, comes cold and flu season. Last year I suffered from a horrible case of the flu, complicated by pneumonia and it was awful. I was hoping to stay healthy this year, but after one week of starting nights at my new job, I am sick.
Stuffy nose + fever + chills + swollen glands + sore throat = a cold 🙁
I try so hard to prevent getting myself from catching a cold by washing my hands, exercising, and eating healthy, but it seems that my immune system is just not up to par. I think that even though I felt good, the change to working nights strained my immune system. I HATE calling in sick to work, but unfortunately in my field sometimes you have no choice. I also HATE that my training for the NYC Half that was supposed to start tomorrow will probably have to be postponed a few days.
The timing sucks, as usual. For now I am loading up on fluids, chicken soup, EmergenC, vitamins and zicam. Hopefully this will all help to reduce the duration of this cold and I can get back on my feet at 100%!!!!
How do you treat a cold?

Hugs! I hope you feel better soon! I treat colds with just rest and lots of calories 🙂

Thanks, I have been resting a lot!
Hi! In my case, when I have only cold without a fever, I always go for at least a short run. I always feel better afterwards, it seems sweating makes viruses go away. Hope you feel better soon!!
I do that too sometimes, but once I have a fever I know my body needs rest.
I’m sorry you’re feeling sick! Sounds like you’re doing everything you can to beat it — unfortunately you just have to let those things run their course. I am feeling a bit under the weather today too, so I am taking it easy and trying to get better as quickly as I can.
