Wow! It’s been a whole week since I blogged. Time has just escaped me between school, working days (I am training in the acute unit for preparation to be on call), crossfit and family!!!
Last Sunday I hosted a Fabletics event at a local 5K. The top I am wearing is a Fabletics top and it is one of my favorites to date!!!
I arranged for a bunch of my co-workers and friends to attend this 5K thanks to Fabletics! I gave them training plan to follow with the intention of everyone running the 5K, but unfortunately due to other commitments many did not follow the plan and they just walked the race……which is just as awesome as running! For many of them it was their first 5K ever and I am happy to report that everyone finished!!! I am proud of each an every single person that came!!!!
The race started at 9am and it was hot and humid, so I was not expecting any great times just because of the weather. I originally started the race planning to stay with my husband, I even told him we would motivate each other to go faster, but when the race started I took off and lost him. Honestly, I didn’t mean to run ahead of him, but there was a lot of bottlenecking in the front from all the walkers and I was just trying to get around them.
A little after mile one, I saw a red head running in front of me and I was so excited to learn it was my friend Lynda fro Healthy Hoboken Girl. Lynda was one of my very first blogger friends that I met at my first blogging conference in 2011, The Health Living Summit. Lynda runs this race every year with her brother and I was hoping we would run into each other!!! I ran with Lynda up until about a quarter mile from the finish, where she took off, chasing her age group win!
Lynda came in second for her age group and I actually won first place in my age group, which is a first for me!!!!! It was not a PR, but it was a first and considering how slow I have been running it was a big accomplishment!! My husband Chris won second place for his age group too, so it was a double win!
I was inspired by everyone!!!!! This was an awesome group that did their best and I am proud of every one of them!!!
As far as my first place title, it is definitely due to crossfit and my Asics sneakers!!! I actually have not officially run unless it was during a crossfit workout for the past few weeks! I definitely see an improvement in my overall endurance, I am excited to see how a feel after a few months of crossfit!
Fabletics currently has a special where you get your first outfit for $25 and I can assure you that one whole outfit at that price is a steal! I am positive if you try them out you will love their clothing as much as I do!! If you take the plunge and try them out, be sure to let me know what you think!!!
Have you ever placed in a race?
