I have been participating in crossfit for 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it! One of my biggest fears when it came to crossfit is box jumps. During my basic training I did perform a few box jumps and I felt pretty good, but when I saw last Thursday’s workout, I’ll admit that I was a little scared.
This was a ton of box jumps and sumo dead lift high pulls! The standard box for a woman is 20-inches and I used a 16-inch block instead. I did a 135 reps total for the entire workout and I definitely conquered my fear of the box jump. Next workout I will definitely be using a 20 inch box.
Crossfit is scary and overwhelming at times, but isn’t that what makes it such a great challenge?!?! Doing what is comfortable, day after day, doesn’t do much for your body or you mind, but adding in a challenging, scary workout makes it exciting! When I finish a crazy crossfit workout I feel energized and alive! Completing a workout that scares me leaves me with a sense of accomplishment that I would never get from doing the same old workout, day after day.
Speaking of feeling a sense accomplishment, I won 1st place in my AG at the local 5K I ran this weekend!!!! And, my husband won second in his AG!!!
While not a PR, it was a first for me as I have never won first place in my AG!!! This was especially surprising since I really have not been running except during my crossfit workouts. I guess I can say I have CrossFit Invasion to thank for contributing to my win!!! I can’t wait to see what I can do at the Firecracker 5K at the end of the month!
I will be posting a full recap on the race and the Fabletics get together later this week!
Do you do Crossfit and run? Has it improved your race times?
