Why do you run?
I run for me. My mind goes a thousand miles a minute and never stops, except when I run. Running frees my mind from stress and always, even during a bad run, makes me feel better!
I ran during crossfit yesterday and my body is aching from the workout, so today I will basically rest. I did manage to run to and from the bus stop in honor of the day!
In honor of National Running Day I want to share my updated race schedule for the year:
- June 8th: Testaverde 5K Run/Walk to benefit spinal cord injury research. I am running this race with my husband, co-workers and friends! This is a great race that supports a great cause. It is in Wantagh, NY and if you are in the area you still have time to sign up and participate!
- June 28th @ 5pm: Massapequa Firecracker 5K run This race features a lift ‘n’ run competition where runners bench press a portion of their body weight based on age and sex and each lift deducts 10 seconds from their race time. I recommended this race to my crossfit and am so excited that they are going to participate! If you are in the area this is a great race!
- August 31: Virginia Beach 1/2 Marathon. This race is on the last day of my vacation Virginia Beach and I even managed to convince my husband to participate in the 5K!
September 21: As a Women’s Health Action Hero I received a comped entry to the Run 10 Feed 10 Run. This run is to help fight domestic hunger and just but registering ten meals will be provided to children in your event community! I am running the NYC event, but there are events all over the country! If you want to register and help fight hunger you can use the code ”WHCHURCH” to save $5 off your registration to any one of the races or 10% off the “run your own 10K option”. This is a great cause that will help give a meal to people that really need it! If you can’t run, you can still donate to my fundraiser by clicking here.
November 2: Last but certainly not least, the much awaited NYC Marathon! This race has been a long time coming and I cannot wait to run it!!!
So far that is it! I am considering another half-marathon in October, but I am not committing to any particular one yet!
Have a great day and be sure to run!
