I take probiotics every single day. It is one supplement I know that helps me feel my best, especially where my stomach is concerned. When it comes to food I pretty much eat what I want, whenever I want. I love food, but sometimes the food I eat does not love my stomach. Before I started taking probiotics, I would frequently experience bloating, gas, and reflux after eating certain foods. Now that I am regularly taking probiotics, those symptoms have greatly improved.
I am known for getting sick from food when I eat out. If anything is the slightest bit bad, I will get sick and I will be the only one. At least six times ea year I develop food poisoning and most recently I had such a bad case that I was sick for over a week. When I can’t eat, you know I am really sick. Now that I am regularly taking probiotics, I am hoping this won’t happen to me as much.
Digestive health is the main reason I take probiotics, because lets face it, my stomach needs all the help I can get. Our digestive system is home to over 500 different species of bacteria and these microorganisms are extremely important for both proper digestion and overall health. Intestinal bacteria is also important for maintaining the linings of the GI tract, keeping bad bacteria in check, nutrient absorption and supporting the immune system.
Many factors can disrupt the microbial balance in your GI tract, including stress and an unhealthy diet, and both those factors I have in my life. Between school, work, family and working out, I tend to be stressed constantly and unfortunately my diet usually suffers because I am an emotional eater. It’s no wonder why I have stomach issues, my GI tract bacteria is definitely off balance and I take probiotics to correct this problem.
In addition to replacing the much needed good bacteria in your stomach, daily probiotics also have other benefits, including:
- Reducing bloating
- Boosting immunity
- Improving mood and attitude
- Promoting weight loss
- Maintenance of urogenital health (ladies think in terms of preventing yeast infections)
