Another week down and I am officially past the halfway point. I am excited and nervous. I have been far from perfect in following my training plan, but I do feel training is not about perfection, it is about stumbling through all the ups and downs and pushing through when it gets hard. In the end what counts is taking the good, the bad and the ugly of training, putting it all together and completing the end goal, which in this case is the NYC Marathon!
Jess has been a blessing and without her training advice and weekly phone calls I am not sure I could push through at times. Having her support is invaluable. I think way too much about way too much and not having to think about my training plan is worth the money!
Week 8 8/31/15-/9/7/15
- Monday 8/31/15: 2 hour Long Run, approx 10-11 miles
I am going to name this training cycle “what doesn’t kill me will make me stronger”, unless i get eaten by an alligator of course (yes, lower left is an alligator, swan under before I could get a good pic. Today I had a 2 hour long run, going by time for now rather than mileage because I find it less stressful. I started at 2 pm and ended at 4pm, don’t let the watch fool you I never changed it ahead in the spring! It was hard but I managed to do it all outside! I drank every bit of water in my @camelbak and recovered with fresh coconut water and pineapple@smoothie! #racepacerunner #teamasicsnycm #teamasics #running #runningnurse #nurserunners #ffcheckin #fitfluential #runchat #liveyourdreams #marathontraining #marathon

Not a bad week. Running my long run based on time rather than miles worked out really well. If you’d like to check out my previous training weeks just click this link or check out my marathon training page located under the running tab! Now let me tell you about my experience with Muscle Maker Grill’s Meal Plans. Muscle Maker Grill reached out to me at the end of July to see if I would like to try a weeks worth of their meals from their meal planning menu. Since I was getting ready to move and everything, including my cooking utensils were mostly packed away I jumped at the opportunity. I loved that they offered grass-fed beef and natural chicken, in addition to fresh fruits and vegetables. Sometimes it is hard to do everything and having MMG’s meal plan as a back up to a healthy diet when life gets busy is a great option. I received a voucher for two meals a day for five days. You basically head to their menu, pick out how many meals you want for the week (price depends on the amount of meals, my voucher was worth $70 which equals to $7 a meal) and then pick out your meals for each day. A few clicks of a button on the computer or you can order in the store and you have your meals set for the week. Pick up depends on where you ordered from but I was able to pick up my Monday-Wednesday meals on Sunday and my Thurday-Friday meals on Wednesday.
Packing up your life to move from NY to Florida is hard work! What’s easy is the week of food I received from @musclemakergrill Their meal plan is awesome and now I don’t have to think about my meals this week! Healthy and delicious! Full review to come when I get settled in Florida next week! #ad #FueledByMuscleMakerGrill #EatLocal #EatClean#HealthyLife #Nutrition #FitFood #FitFam #GetFit#FitFluential #Fitspiration #InstaFood #FoodPorn#FoodPics #MealPrep #Motivation #Focus #Dedication#GymLife #TrainHard #EatCleanTrainDirty#InstaFitness #FitnessGear #InstaFit #Fitspo#MealPlans #IgFit A photo posted by Toni (@runninglovingliving) on
All the food was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the Grilled Chicken Italiano Salad!!! My only complaint was with warming up the food. If it was a completely hot meal like the Penne & Reduced Fat Vodka Sauce with Chicken it was easy to heat in a pan or microwave if you prefer, but with the Turkey Taco Salad it was hard because you had to separate the meat from the rest of the meal.
Overall I loved these meals! The meals were fresh, reasonably priced and provided me with healthy options during a busy week!
How was your week?
Disclosure: I received a voucher for MMG’s meal plan. All opinions are 100% my own.
