What do you do when you haven’t been able to run in 3 months and then get the okay to start? Well I wanted run 10 miles, but instead I maintained control and only ran one. Saturday morning was cold for Florida. It was in the low 40’s, windy and raining, but none on these things were going to stop me from running.
I won’t sugar coat it. This mile was hard. This mile was slow. This mile was not pretty. But, it was a mile of running!!!
I have a long road ahead to get back into peak running shape. It is unbelievable how much endurance is lost in just a few short months. My plan is to start slow, very slow. This year is going to be “building” year for me. I plan to build back up to my previous running condition, run a half at the end of Spring/beginning of Summer, and run the NYC Marathon. Next year will be all about speed, as long as I stay injury free this year, in an effort to BQ at 40.
How do I plan to do this? I will be working with my coach Jess. Having a coach provides me with support and accountability. Plus, it leaves me with one less thing to plan and worry about because Jess makes my plans and adjusts it to my needs.
As I alluded to above I will be running the NYC Marathon this year! I was able to cancel my entry last year when I new I couldn’t run which allowed me to gain guaranteed entry this year.
