This year my focus is going to be all about recovery and getting to the NYC Marathon, uninjured. Next year my focus is going to be speed. With that in mind I am going to run a few choice races this year so that I don’t overdo it. My calendar may be small, but I am looking forward to each and every race on it.
My 2016 Race Schedule:
5/21/16: Night Nation Run 5K
6/5/16: Echo Half Marathon
11/6/16: TCS New York City Marathon
This calendar may have been a little larger if I could have added some Summer races, but I didn’t realize, although I should have, that due to the Florida heat the race season here ends in June and doesn’t pick up again until late September. I definitely want to do at least one 10K and possibly another half before NYC.
This week officially begins my training for the Echo Half Marathon. The half is only 10 weeks away and I chose this one because it was one of the very last half marathons in Florida until October. I would have preferred one a few weeks later, but I discussed it with my coach and she said to go for it!!!! I am doing it with two of my running friends, Arleen and Allison. We are going to stay over the night before because it is 2 hours from where we live and it starts at 6:15 am. I am super excited for this race because the last half I ran was actually in 2014, which was the Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half. I will be posting weekly recaps of my Echo Half Training.
