I ran my first marathon, NYC, in 2014. When I started running way back in 1997 I knew I wanted to run a marathon and as someone who grew up on Long Island I knew that marathon would be NYC.
I originally got into NYC in 2012. A month before the race I was diagnosed with a stress fracture. Although I was completely devastated by this turn of events it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as 2012 was the year of Sandy.
In January 2013 while sick with pneumonia I had to make the decision on what year I would run the race-2014, 2015, or 2016. Being so sick I couldn’t imagine running in 2013 so I decided 2014 would be the year.
I trained my heart out and despite 40 mph winds I finished the TCS New York City Marathon in 2014. I always thought that would be my one and only marathon, but as soon as I crossed that finish line I knew I would do it again.
In 2015 I was honored to be asked to be on Team ASICS as one of the 5 TO The Finish Line bloggers. Unfortunately, I would not run in 2015 due to an injury. I was on the sidelines cheering my teammates on, which is almost as amazing as running.
Now we are in 2016 and I am using my deferral from last years race to claim my redemption. I am honored that the New York Road Runner’s asked me to be one of their social media ambassadors for the event. I am looking forward to sharing my marathon journey and actually completing the race this year!!!!
I am excited to be sharing this honor with some awesome bloggers:
- Kristin from Bama Girl RUNS
- Nellie from Brooklyn Active Mama
- Jonathan from Run The Six
- Gina from Happy Tri Girl
- Elizabeth from Running and the City
- Eric from Dirty Old Sneakers
- Abby from Back At Square Zero
I hope you will follow my journey to the TCS New York City Marathon as I seek redemption for last year!
Are you running the TCS New York City Marathon this year? Have you ever run it?
