The New Year brings resolutions and a renewed interest in bettering ourselves. I am not necessarily a fan of resolutions just because most people end up breaking them within a few weeks. I personally prefer New Year’s goals! I am all for bettering ourselves and making goals to get where you want to be, especially when it comes to bettering your health.
Along with having goals it is best to always have a plan. My plan includes carrying a stocked gym/running bag in my car. If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. Being prepared is the best way to make sure you are always ready for any and all workouts.
Here are my five must have gym/running bag essentials:
1Shot Protein is not only delicious, it makes super easy to get in 24 grams of protein post workout.
- 1Shot Protein is perfect for an active on-the-go lifestyle. I am always on the go as a homecare nurse and I even love to take them with me to fuel up during the day when I don’t have time to eat my lunch. I love that it is in a pocket sized bottle that doesn’t require refrigeration, so convenient to store in my gym/run bag or my lunchbox.
1Shot Protein comes in two flavors-Tropical & Berry-both delicious, contains 24grams of protein, 0 grams of sugar and is only 96 calories. It is a win all around!
Gym towel: A must have for all those sweaty workouts! I hate when I get to to kickboxing or after a run and I am without a gym towel. I work my ass off and sweat like crazy!
Mat Towel: See above. I sweat like crazy and without a mat towel my mat usually gets all gross. I can wash a mat towel after I use it, mats are usually a little harder to clean. Plus if I head to workout where I have to use the facilities mat, it is nice to have a clean mat towel to lay over it….who knows what kind of germs are on those mats.
Workout clothes: These are a must for those occasions that I am headed home from work and decide I need to hit the gym before hitting my house. It always pays to have at least one set of workout clothes in the bag at all times.
Toiletries: Technically this is more than one item, but it fits into one small bag in my gym bag so I only count it as one essential. In my toiletry bag I usually keep wipes (for a quick clean), deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush and extra makeup.
If I am not already wearing my running sneakers I would definitely add those to my bag too. In a perfect word where I could spare no expense I would have two pairs of my running sneakers……..one for home and one for my gym/running bag.
