We are now entering week 5 of the #Fitblog Planks Challenge and I have been doing tons of different planks (side, walking, off a ball) in an attempt to reach my goal of holding a regular plank for 3 minutes. One more week remains after this and we will see if I can achieve what I have set out to do during this challenge. Today I held the plank for 2 minutes and 34 seconds, it hurt like crazy and I felt it in every part of my body but I only have 26 seconds more to go to reach my goal. Chris, my planks partner held his plank for 1 minute and 51 seconds, only 9 seconds from his goal of 2 minutes.

Pictures like this one are a big source of motivation to continue with the planks challenge. Obtaining a six-pack is a difficult goal to obtain for most women because body fat levels usually need to be close to 15% for a true six-pack to show, although in some people it can be seen with body fat as high as 18%. Planks/Core work are only part of the equation for obtaining six-pack abs, you also need to incorporate cardiovascular and weight training into the mix along with maintaing a super clean diet.

I personally have never had a six-pack, I have always had a lower belly pooch in when I was younger and super thin. Now that I have had 2 children I often wonder if it is even possible for me to obtain a six-pack, but I think it is worth a try. Some people are just blessed with great abs, I am not one of them but I have a friend who basically eats what she wants and hardly exercises but still she has a six-pack….yes life is unfair.

Next week I will meet my plank goal of 3 minutes but I am still far from a six-pack. I have 60 days left of the Supreme 90 Day Workout, so between that, running, core work and diet, hopefully I will be sporting a six-pack by August.

Do you have a six-pack? If so, how do you maintain it?
