After the Frito-Lay demo I had quite a few hours before the cocktail party so Chris and I decided to walk around Philly. Where did we go?? No, not to the Liberty Bell. We went where every New Yorker goes when we get to Philly…….we went for cheese steaks of course. We had made a trip to Philly a few years ago to see all the sites and we went to Pat’s for cheese steaks, so this time we decided to head to Geno’s to see which one we liked better.
We walked South down 9th street for about a half an hour until we hit this:
The cheese steaks were delicious but I did prefer Pat’s. Geno’s steaks were whole and Pat’s were chopped, I liked the steaks chopped better. After we had the cheese steaks we walked back to the hotel and on the way we stopped at a fruit truck. I desperately needed something healthy after the cheese steak and surprisingly enough the fruit truck was awesome….can you please come to Long Island, I need one right outside my office.
We headed back to the hotel and I rested for awhile before going down to register for the Healthy Living Summit and picking up my swag bag. I was probably one of the first ones to register so it took me a whole 5 minutes to get my name tag and swag bag.
My Name Tag:
After checking out all my swag I got ready for the cocktail party. Major storms were heading our way so I just wanted to get to the cocktail party before it started to pour. I didn’t really want to walk over by myself so I answered a tweet and met up with a group of women in the lobby to walk with over the cocktail party. It started to thundering and lightening as we walked out of the hotel and then the ran began so we ran….I was in heels so I just tried to fall. We made to the party just as it started to pour, disaster averted.
The cocktail party took place after hours in the Reading Terminal Market:
Beer, wine and a special Chia drink!!!
By the time I got to the food it was pretty much all gone, I managed to grab some veggies and dip and a caramelized onion and goat cheese “pizza” which were great. I also got to eat some of the appetizers they came around with: a beet salad, chicken tenders and an empanada.
I did try the Chia drink to start and I thought it was pretty good but very sweet so I quickly ditched it in favor of beer.
I talked to new people and made a few new friends. I even met Kath from Kath Eats Real Food, she was an absolute doll, very friendly. She was a pleasure to talk to and hang out with. I even got a pic with her:
Nancy from Healthy Hoboken Girl and I hung out most of the night, she was actually the reason I got to meet Kath because she started the conversation with her, thanks Nancy!!!
We also had a little fun in the photo booth that was set up in the back.
The cocktail party ran from 7 pm-10 pm but I was tired and I headed back to the hotel at 9 pm. I walked back with to the hotel with Barbara from Bodyworks Integrative Health and we parted ways on the elevator. I headed back to my room and fell asleep not too long after, a great night overall.
Check out my next post for the recap of the actual Healthy Living Summit that I attended on Saturday.
