I found this pic on Flickr and it inspired me to write a post about rest and relaxation.

Rest and relaxation is just as important to a healthy lifestyle as exercise and fitness. In today’s world we all live such intense lifestyles that keep us on the go all the time that we rarely have a moment to ourselves let alone the time to just rest and relax. Personally, I am on the run all day long without a moment to breathe, then I come home and I continue go, go, go until I have to go to sleep…..relaxation is a rarity except when I am on vacation which is just not often enough.
This pic is just so beautiful that I actually feel relaxed just looking at it. I imagine this father and son just hanging out, without the worries of everyday life, just enjoying the beauty of their surroundings and each other’s company. I couldn’t imagine a better way to relax than to spend time with my husband and kids on a beach at sunset just enjoying each other and the beauty of life.
In this fast paced world we sometimes lose sight of what really matters, taking the time to relax with family and friends can remind us just how precious life is and what is truly important. We all should take some time everyday to relax and be with the ones we love or to just be by ourselves to reflect on the day. I know when I do either of these things it makes me a much happier, less anxious person which in turn allows me to be a better mother and wife.
A healthy lifestyle requires the balance of work, exercise, healthy eating, rest and relaxation. I strive everyday to achieve this balance but usually fall short especially in the rest and relaxation area. I will find my balance someday, maybe when I am older and retired but until then I will work on achieving that balance everyday.
This pic also reminds me that I desperately need a vacation! Thankfully in 2 weeks we are heading to the Rocking Horse Ranch for a few days of fun, rest and relaxation……just what the doctor ordered.
How do you find balance? What are your favorite ways to rest and relax?

I am so glad to hear you are getting your well needed vacation. I just returned from a two day get away with my family and you are right…so very refreshing, plus who doesn’t love to run or go for long walk while away? Have a wonderful time at Rocking Horse Ranch. xo
That pic makes me think of the vaca I am going on in June to Ocean City, Maryland. I am not so sure that it’s the destination that I enjoy so much but I go with my nephews and sadly this will probably be the last vaca we take together since my oldest nephew turns 18 this year and the youngest 16. I think vacas with Aunt Mis will be a thing of the past.
