I had a pretty great weekend filled with bloggers, spiders and running…….a healthy mix of everything that makes life worth living!
On Thursday I got a tweet from Kim (a fellow blogger from Sweet Heart Eats) wanting to see if I was free Friday night to meet up. I have been tweeting with her for over 6 months and she actually lives very close to me but we had yet to connect IRL so I jumped at the chance and we made plans to meet up at a nearby Starbucks at 6:30. Now personally I am more of a Dunkin Donuts girl but it seems Starbucks is the place everyone wants to meet, I actually had met up with another blogger Sarah months before at the same exact Starbucks.
The Tweetup was great!!!! I got there a little after 6:30 because of traffic and Kim was already there waiting. We ordered some drinks, sat down and proceeded to get to know each other uninterrupted for the next hour and 15 minutes. I only looked at the time because my phone was vibrating from a text or else I am pretty sure I could have been there for another hour and 15 minutes. I had a really great time and our conversation just flowed without any awkwardness which is always a plus!!! I look forward to hanging out with Kim again soon. (No pics because I am a horrible blogger)
The Spider portion of the weekend will come after my 7 mile run with Sarah from Running to keep up with a Toddler, yes this is the same Sarah I met at Starbucks. I tweeted Sarah Thursday to see if she wanted to run Saturday and she responded back that she could run but she was running 7 miles which actually was perfect because I wanted to run long on Saturday anyway.
We decided to meet a 7 am and since I literally woke up at 6:30 I really didn’t have anytime to eat so I just grabbed some water and some Sharkies!!!!
After a little confusion about where we were meeting we finally connected at Massapequa Park around 7:15 and despite the confusion we had a great 7 mile run!
I am trying to run my long runs slower which makes running with Sarah perfect because she keeps me in check. If I ran by myself I would run slightly faster but I am just trying to run injury free so slower long runs are much better for me and much less likely to cause an injury.
I ate my Citrus Squeeze Sharkies at around mile 5 and as much as I like Sharkies I did share them with Sarah.
These are one of my favorite ways to refuel during a run! I have tried every flavor of Sharkies and they all taste great! They are easy to carry, easy to eat and easy to digest with is a huge plus, the last thing I want during a run is an upset stomach. Sharkies are organic, contain no HFCS, and are free from artificial dyes and flavors-you can actually understand all of the ingredients in this product. If you haven’t tried Sharkies I would definitely recommend them.
Sharkies was also nice enough to Sponsor a prize for my Welcome to Summer Virtual Run which started today!!! By participating in my run you will have a chance to win this awesome prize so head over to my registration page and sign up today!
Disclosure: Sharkies provided a prize for my virtual run. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
After the run I was supposed to meet Chris and Abby at the diner but we finished later than I expected and they were already eating so I decide to forego the diner in favor of a Dunkin Donuts coffee. I started to drive home and felt something on my neck so I brushed it away with my hand only to see a big, grey spider fall into my lap…AAAAAH!!!
It looked something like this:

I drove with one hand holding the skirt planning to “release ” the hopefully dead spider when I got to Dunkin Donuts. On the way to Dunkin Donuts I actually passed by a new Farmer’s Market in Seaford and just had to stop, I must have looked like a nut in the parking lot jumping around brushing at my skirt to make sure the spider was truly gone. I am okay looking like a nut as long as I was spider free!!! I am also very proud that I didn’t crash my car during the “attack”…lol!
The Farmer’s Market was really nice but since I had just been running I only had a few dollars to spend so I got some spicy pickles and some beautiful swiss chard.
I will definitely be going back next week with more money!!!!!
The rest of the weekend consisting of cleaning up the backyard, BBQ’s, Father’s day dinner, and some goats<<<—-more on the goats later this week.
Overall a great weekend!!
How was your weekend? Any interesting stories?
