I worked all day Friday, headed home, got ready and headed to the city with my friend Crystal. By 6:15 pm the Moonwalk weekend had begun with an hour car ride to the Millenium Hilton Hotel, which was right across the street from the World Trade Center site.
Our room was on the 41st Floor and it had an absolutely amazing view of the city.
Even though we were walking a marathon at 10:30 pm the very next night, Crystal and I couldn’t pass up hanging out in the city for a little while. Crystal bought me a drink, an overpriced $16 martini, at the Millenium prior to heading out to the Brooklyn Bridge. Crystal and I both have lived in NY our entire lives, but had never walked over the Brooklyn Bridge. We braved the unbearable heat, I mean makeup melting, sweat dripping heat, thank goodness it wasn’t the Moonwalk night heat, to walk on the Brooklyn Bridge. We walked up far enough to catch a breeze and get good pics before turning around in search of dinner.
Yelp (you can friend me here) assisted us in finding a local Irish Pub, Ryan Maguire’s Ale House. It was a fairly quiet, reasonably priced for the city, pub. We ordered some appetizers and some beer, hanging out until about 11:20 pm. My goal was to be back at the hotel and asleep by midnight. The bartender was extremely friendly and I loved his Irish brogue. My favorite appetizer was the steak crostini, absolutely delicious.
We got back to our hotel about 11:45pm and as per my goal I was in bed and asleep by midnight!!!!! Here are some nighttime pics of the view from out room.
Stay tuned for my next post on the Moonwalk weekend: Saturday Morning!!!!
