This week didn’t go exactly as planned. Sunday was supposed be a 6 mile long run, but I ended up with a case of food poisoning from my birthday dinner Saturday night. Sunday I felt terrible and barely made it out of bed, not exactly the birthday I had planned. Needless to day, my long run did not happen yesterday, but it will happen today.
That’s the thing with training plans, sometimes things don’t go as planned and we have to adjust. It used to be that I would let this get me down and disrupt my entire plan, but I have learned to adjust. One day can be great and then the next day can be horrible, but the training must go on.
My advice, take each day as it comes, learn from each running experience and move on, don’t let one bad run or one missed day to hold you back or ruin your entire plan. Training as a whole is what matters, not missing a run or having a bad day. It is important to do what is good for your body so that you can stay injury free. Take it from me, because I am learning from all my mistakes.
How was your week???
