First I want to send a big thanks to Fitness Magazine for hosting this amazing event!!  I would also like to thank all the awesome sponsors for all the goodies I received for attending, especially Eddie Bauer, Balance Bar, Dermalogica, Luna, Pure Protein, Tria, Tonalin, Hoka One One and Oster Versa!

I started the day on a train to the city and look what I found while waiting for my train to arrive:

NYC Marathon train

It is definitely feeling real now!!!  I met Brianna from BriannaRoseBranding.com at Penn and we battled the rain and wind to get to the Mercedes Club where the event was being held.

The event started with breakfast and speakers, with a little socializing in between!

Breakfast Collage

The morning speakers included:

  • A welcome speech from Betty Wong, Fitness Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief
  • The New Formula for Fitness Success with Holly Rilinger. Holly is a former pro-basketball player that now trains celebrities.  Holly has a dream board hanging on her wall with everything that she wants to accomplish.  This board helps her visualize what she wants to achieve.  Holly’s advice for achieving your workout goals is to be consistent and to treat your workout like you would a business meeting by scheduling it into your calendar.
  • How to Stay Healthy in a Hard-Core World with Marci A. Goolsby, MD.  Marci’s key advice for runners is to cross train.  Cross training is very important for agility, performance, strength and injury prevention.  To prevent delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) it is important to stay mobile rather than just completely resting and not moving at all.
  • Eat Healthier, Live Happier with Carla Hall.  Carla has an amazing personality that just radiated throughout her session.  Her advice is to be authentic with who you are and the universe will help you to your next step.

After the morning sessions we had an opportunity to interact with all the awesome sponsors!  I was especially interested in the Oster Versa Performance Blender because I need a new one and this one looked pretty awesome!!  I visited Hoka One One and got an awesome new pair of sneakers, these look bulky but they are actually very light, I can’t wait to try them out on a run!  Eddie Bauer gave me an awesome new winter shirt that I wore yesterday during the Freaky 5K and I can tell you I am in love!  I planked for 30 seconds with with Tonalin for a new tech shirt!  I tried bars from Balance Bar, Luna and Pure Protein, all were pretty yummy!  Dermalogica gave me some free skin care samples that I cannot wait to try out.  Last but not least I checked out Tria who has some awesome products for hair removal, anti-aging and acne treatment.

Each and every sponsor was awesome and extremely generous!!!

After checking out all the sponsors I enjoyed a healthy lunch with some blogging buddies!  I had the opportunity to talk with Anne from Fannetastic Food and I am really excited for her upcoming e-book about running nutrition.  I also got some great tips for the upcoming NYC Marathon…..I love like minded blog friends!

The afternoon had one last session and a  3 mile run.  The session was “My Digital Brand is My Business” with @laurasykora, @fANNEtasticfood, and Mizzfit_Bianca.  This was an awesome session and the key points I got out of it were to be yourself, don’t be afraid to evolve and help others not just yourself.  These women are amazing and have all grown great businesses that I am sure will continue to grow.

I did not participate in the run because I still was sore from my 20 miler and I had to trek back to Penn station with my heavy bag of swag!!  I was so grateful I had a friend to walk with me!!

It was an awesome day and if you are a blogger in the NYC area you should definitely apply next year!  I want to once again thank Fitness Magazine for inviting me and for all the sponsors that contributed to my awesome swag bag!

You are leading such an awesome life. I wish I could have attended. I LOVE Dermalogica. I use that product line for my skin exclusively. LOVE IT!! The wash the moisturizer is excellent. My skin stays clear. That swag bag looks awesome and the sessions sound very interesting. Man – I hope they have one near and around Maryland/DC one day. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome recap! I did not know Anne was writing a book about running nutrition. I just started running this Spring and have done a few 5k’s. I know my nutrition is off some days and I can really feel it on some runs. Still learning about this topic so it’s great to know where to get more info. SO great to see you at the event.

    P.S. The website looks great!
