I honestly cannot believe that there is only 5 weeks left until the NYC Marathon. This training cycle has felt like forever. I keep wondering when it is finally going to click and I will feel good instead of struggling through every single workout, but I have to accept that this may not happen until marathon day. What I do know is that my training has been as solid as it can be considering I made a huge move to Florida this past summer and just recently started a new job. I am grateful to have Jess as my coach/therapist to help me through this training because I think without her great coaching and support I am not sure I could do it.
Here’s how my week turned out:
- Monday 9/21/15: Rest
- Tuesday 9/22/15: Plan: OTF; Actual: rest
- Wednesday 9/23/15: Tempo Run, 5.25 miles
I barely made it through the this tempo run, mostly because I had Latin food 2 hours before-big mistake. 1 mile (5.5), 3 miles (6.2) 1 mile (3.5-5.5). - Thursday 9/24/15: Plan: OTF; Actual: rest
- Friday 9/25/15: Easy Middle Distance Run, 5.6 miles
Middle distance run today outdoors. It was hot. It was humid. I thought I would die, but didn’t. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. The best thing about #Florida #running is that I see something new every single time. - Saturday 9/26/15: Rest
- Sunday 9/27/15: Long run; Plan: 3 hours; Actual: 2 hours, 11 miles
- Total Miles: 21.85 miles
I had a couple bumps in the road this week that led to changes in the plan, but overall I was pretty satisfied with my performance, even when I cut my long run by an hour. I have really started to learn to listen to my body and on Sunday it just was not having a 3 hour run. I am ready for week 12!!!
