This year was not my best running year. In all honesty, while filled with amazing running experiences, it pretty much sucked for running. I started 2015 training for the LI Marathon, but in March I decided not to run the marathon. There were many reasons behind this decision (you can read my post here), but the number one reason was that the training for this marathon was making running feel like a chore. I have no regrets not running that marathon. Instead I ran the 10K with my husband, his first. He even beat me, also a first for him.
Sadly, the LI 10K was the one any only race I would run in 2015. After the LI 10K I joined the inaugural K-Fit 6 Challenge (read my full recap here). I loved this program so much that when Kendrick reached out to me to be an Ambassador and support coach for the upcoming program in January I gladly accepted!! If you need an awesome challenge to get back into top running shape then you should definitely check out this challenge!! (If you sign up via my links I do receive a commission which helps support this blog!)
In June I received one of the most exciting emails a runner can receive, an invitation from ASICS to run the NYC Marathon as a part of their team!!!!! This was an opportunity of a lifetime and there was not way I was passing it up so I accepted and started training.
This training cycle was both hard and rewarding. In August I moved to Tampa Bay and running in the heat here is no joke. I struggled through most of my runs, but I kept running. I met some amazing ladies who were nice enough to let me join their group and they really helped me through many of my long runs. I connected with my fellow #TEAMASICSNYCM bloggers who were also a great support throughout the training. Unfortunately for me this training ended with an injury in the beginning of October. I had hopes that rest would still allow me to run the NYCM, but that would not be the case. Even though I didn’t get to run I still got to go to NYC and support my team. I had an amazing experience thanks to ASICS and spectating at the marathon was an absolute amazing experience.
To end this sucky running but amazing year I was also chosen to be an ASICS Ambassador!!!!
2015 will go down as the year I trained for two marathons and ran zero. I am still recovering from the injury that knocked me out of the NYCM, but I am hopeful I will be back up and running by February. Then I plan to #MasterIt in my new MetaRun Sneakers courtesy of ASICS!!!
How was your 2015???
