Week one of training was less than stellar, but that’s okay. I feel like this past week was just a week of catch up and recovery from my Long Island vacation. On the last day of vacation, the Sunday prior to the start of NYC Marathon training, I ran the Firecracker 5K my friend and husband.
Even thought this was a great way to kick off NYC marathon training, it left me sore for days because I really wasn’t prepared to run a 5K as fast as I did. Full recap coming. Now onto my first week of marathon training:
- Monday 6/28/16: Rest.
- Tuesday 6/29/16: Rest.
- Wednesday 6/30/16: 4 miles, 47:47.
NYC Marathon Training has officially begun! Easy 4 miler with my friend this am! What a difference from running in NY last week, humidity has taken its grip in Florida! - Thursday 6/31/16: Hill repeats, 3 miles; The “hill” I used was an overpass over the highway, the pictures don’t do it justice.
Hill work this am with some great running friends at 545 am before work! It was hit, humid and super tough, but we did it and now I can ride the high for the rest of the day! Not the best week. This week will be better. I am doing a juice cleanse at the end of the week to jump start my diet, so I am hoping it doesn’t affect my training too much.
