I have not ever in my life been a swimmer. I won’t drown, but swimming in any way for exercise is beyond my capabilities. I do want to participate in a triathlon someday and I decided once I moved to Florida that learning how to swim for exercise would be a top priority. Fast forward a year later and I am just now learning how to swim. Luckily enough for me one of my new running buddies was captain of her swim team in high school!!!
In order to learn how to swim I need to be prepared. I am personally obsessed with bags and in order to be prepared I have a bag for everything: work, running, kickboxing, post workout clothes and now swimming.
- Sunscreen: This is a must have for the outdoors. Prevention of skin cancer is a priority for me and my family. We use only mineral sunscreen because my research shows it is better for you.
- Swimsuits: I usually focus on fashion rather than function, but now that I am practicing to become a better swimmer, function takes priority. My new Speedo swimsuit is both stylish and functional! Speedo even offers a ton of adorable kids bathing suits too! My daughter loves her rainbow bikini!!!!
- Goggles: I haven’t used goggles in years and my new Speedo goggles are the perfect addition to my swimming bag. They are extremely comfortable too.
- Towel: Something to dry off with after swimming is a must.
These are my must haves to get through a swim session whether it is indoors or out. What I also have in case I am swimming in any of the beautiful springs around my area is a snorkeling kit, which technically has it’s own bag. I also carry an extra bag for my change of clothes!
Swimming is a struggle for me, but I am hoping to get better the more I learn and practice. I have a lofty goal of completing a triathlon by the time I am 45. Being prepared with the right bathing suit and equipment like goggles definitely plays a big role in my success and I know I will be adding a tri-suit into the mix in the next few years.
Now for all you swimmer’s out there, what else should I have in my swim bag?
