Key West was amazing!!!! What a way to celebrate my 39th birthday!!!!! I have been less than passionate about many things and this trip turned that all around. This trip renewed my exuberance for life. Being away with the girls and feeling free was just what I needed!
Above was the start of our weekend and below the end.
These pictures depict our weekend. We had fun and we were happy. It made me realize that I hadn’t been having that much fun and wasn’t particularly happy. Life is short and after this weekend I realized exactly how short, turning 39 helped along that epiphany.
I want more. And by more I mean I want to achieve some lofty goals that I set out to complete a few years ago, but pushed aside. This blog began with a lofty goal…..running an under two hour half and I blew that goal away with a 1:54:36. MY biggest accomplishment was running the NYC Marathon for the first time in 2014, but it left me wanting more. I wanted to BQ by 40 and I wanted to run a 1:45 half, big goals. I trained for 4 marathons after NYC and ended running one, NYC again in 2016. I never attempted a faster half after the Florida weather slowed me down. Both these goals did not happen and I gave up.
I may have been down, but I am getting back up. I am buckling down this year in preparation for running Key West in 2018 again. This time the goal is a PR and if all goes well a 1:45 half. I also plan to make a real attempt at a BQ and that would happen in November 2018 most likely at the Space Coast Marathon. I would have to run a 3:45 marathon to qualify and as all runners know it would actually have to be faster than that to actually get into the race.
I don’t know if I will actually meet these goals, but a fire is lit and it’s not going to be extinguished until I give it my all!
What was/is your biggest running goal?
