In six weeks I will be running the San Francisco Half Marathon. To be exact, the first half of the San Francisco Marathon. This is the 40th anniversary of the San Francisco Marathon and they offer many different races including the first half marathon and the second half marathon. The first half course includes the Golden Gate Bridge and the second half is through the city. I chose the first half because I couldn’t thin of a better way to see San Francisco than from the Golden Gate Bridge at sunrise. The only caveat is that it starts at 5:30 am, but at least it should be cool, right?
I am happy I signed up for this race when I did, because it is sold out!!!
I don’t have an official training plan for this race. I am basically continuing my training from Echo. My Echo training was eight weeks long and I now have six weeks to San Francisco, which essentially provides me with 14 weeks of training total.
Basically I will be running 3-4 times a week. I will be adding hill training into the mix so I will be ready to tackle the hills of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.
This race is the last morning of my 10-day California vacation, which means I have no goals except to finish. Honestly, I just want to enjoy this race. Run, take pictures and just have fun!!!
I am really looking forward to running this race!!! It is going to be a great way for me to see San Francisco!
What upcoming race are you most looking forward to?
